Ureaplasma

Overview

Ureaplasma is a type of common bacteria that is spread via unprotected sexual contact, but it is normally not classified as a sexually transmitted infection (STI) since it can also be shared without intercourse.
There are seven species of ureaplasma, but only two occur in human beings: ureaplasma urealyticum (U. urealyticum) and ureaplasma parvum (U. parvum). Treating ureaplasma is generally done with oral antibiotics.

Additional Information

Often, ureaplasma causes no symptoms or discomfort of any kind in people with a healthy immune system. However, ureaplasma does sometimes trigger uncomfortable symptoms and lead to serious health complications if left untreated. Its symptoms can be similar to those associated with sexually transmitted infections.

An upper respiratory infection (URI) occurs in the sinuses and/or the throat. URIs develop in the lungs and airways and are very common viral infections where bacteria is easily spread from one person to another. People can become sick by touching an infected surface and then touching their face; this gives the virus or bacteria an avenue to infect the individual. Sick individuals who sneeze or cough without covering their mouth can expel droplets that can infect others.
Individuals with a weakened immune system or a heart condition are more likely to experience serious complications as a result of an upper respiratory infection. For instance, pneumonia, an infection of the lungs, is an uncommon but potentially serious complication that can result from a common cold infection.

Heartburn

Overview

Heartburn, also called acid indigestion, is a very common digestive condition characterized by a burning sensation in the chest, just behind the breastbone. Heartburn really has nothing to do with the heart itself but rather originates from the stomach or the lower part of the esophagus.

At the bottom of the esophagus, there is a muscular ring called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) that prevents stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus. In some cases, the LES may not function correctly, permitting stomach acid to escape into the esophagus. This is known as acid reflux, and it can cause irritation and inflammation of the esophageal lining, resulting in a painful “burning” feeling.

Overview

Influenza, commonly referred to as the flu, is a highly contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza A or B viruses. It strikes mainly during the winter season, causing a range of symptoms from mild to severe. To reduce the spread of influenza, annual flu vaccination campaigns are critical. Warning
